The Complete Poker Bonus Guide - Part 2: Choosing the best poker bonus – incremental or fixed?

Posted 22 Nov 2011 by in General bonuspoker

Finding the best poker bonus for your own poker game is actually a lot harder than you think. You need to look not only at the size of the bonus, but also consider factors like how many players are active at that site, how much you will need to rake to clear your poker bonus and also how good the players are on that network. To make sure you get the right bonus, we at Bonus Poker have put together a checklist and also have the bonus calculator to help you decide where to go.

This article will focus on whether incremental or fixed is best for you.

Incremental bonus or Fixed Bonus:

When choosing your bonus at a poker room make sure to check whether the bonus is paid in increments or is a fixed bonus.

Fixed bonus: these bonuses are paid out in one lump sum payment. You must earn enough points or the equivalent to release the entire bonus. With a fixed bonus you either earn the entire bonus or nothing.

Incremental bonus: These bonuses are paid out in instalments. These are normally in 10% segments of the entire bonus. For example if you have signed up for a $100 bonus at many poker sites you could expect to receive payments for every $10 that you have earned. With incremental bonuses you can earn anything from $0 to the maximum. These are the safer bonus but often are harder to clear than fixed bonuses.

If you are uncertain about clearing the entire bonus then you need to be playing for an incremental bonus. If you are unsure how much time you can put into poker during the bonus period then again you need to choose an incremental bonus as this will give you more leeway.

Players that are confident of earning the entire bonus will often find better rewards with a fixed bonus. Due to the inherent risk of going for a fixed bonus most poker rooms will offer better rewards so for players that have the time and the dedication a fixed poker bonus is the right call.

Choose a fixed poker bonus if:

You have the time and dedication to clear the bonus You are confident of clearing the whole bonus

Choose an incremental poker bonus if:

You aren't confident of clearing your entire deposit bonus You can't guarantee the amount of time you can spend playing poker during the bonus time period
